The BCCI has released a partial schedule, including the first 21 matches up to April 7, due to the pending announcement of the dates for India's general elections.
In the opening match of IPL 2024 on March 22, defending champions of MS-Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will host Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The IPL released a partial schedule for 21 matches from March 22 to April 7. The final is set for May 26, with a tight gap before the men’s T20 World Cup starting on June 1 in the USA and the Caribbean. The remaining IPL schedule depends on the Election Commission’s announcement of national election dates, likely in April and May.
The IPL 2024 opening match will start at 8 pm IST, with the remaining matches following the usual routine: 7.30 pm IST for evening games and 3.30 pm IST for early games on double-header days. The initial schedule includes four double-headers, with two on the opening weekend.

On March 23, Punjab Kings will play Delhi Capitals, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rajasthan Royals will play Lucknow Super Giants on March 24, while Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans. Titans will kickstart their campaign two days later.
Punjab Kings and Titans will play back-to-back matches with just a day’s break. Capitals won’t play any games at their home ground, with matches in Visakhapatnam due to venue unavailability. Capitals, Titans, and RCB will play five matches, while KKR will play three. Punjab Kings will play at a new venue in Mullanpur.
MS Dhoni will return to action, arriving in Chennai in early March. Hardik Pandya will captain Mumbai Indians, and Rishabh Pant will return to competitive cricket.
In total, 74 games will be played, including four playoff matches.
